Thomas F. Stack, 68 Retired Boston police officer - The Boston Globe (Boston, MA)

Thomas Francis Stack of Marshfield, a retired Boston policeofficer and founder of Glen Security Systems Inc. of Dorchester,died Sunday in New England Deaconess Hospital of complicationsfollowing surgery. He was 68.

Mr. Stack was born in Hyde Park and graduated from Boston EnglishHigh School. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He had been a patrolman at Station 11 in Fields Corner,Dorchester, for 28 years until he retired in 1977 to found thesecurity systems company.

Mr. Stack received a number of awards and commendations duringhis career, including the Thomas F. Sullivan Award, the Boston BankAward, the Boston Police Relief Association Memorial Award and theNational Conference of Christian and Jews Brotherhood Award.

He was an original trustee of the New England Sports Museum andhad been president of Randolph Pop Warner Football, theMassachusetts Association of Retired Police and Fire Fighters and amember of the Boston Police Emerald Society.

He was a member of the Readville Council of the Knights ofColumbus and of the Sunset Bocce Club.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Alice E. (FitzHenry); fourdaughters, Barbara Gaynor of Halifax, Nancy Eastman of Medford,Theresa of South Boston and Carolyn of Norwood; two sons, Thomas F.Jr. of Dedham and William J. of Canton; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in Most PreciousBlood Church in Hyde Park. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery inHyde Park.
