A night before the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violenceheld its annual Silk Road Gala, Respond, a domestic violenceorganization started by women in Somerville, held its own gala atthe Boston Harbor Hotel. Guests included Respond board memberElizabeth Tyminski, board president Jeff Kellem, and Respondexecutive director Jessica Brayden.

On the Shaq track

We've learned two more things about Shaquille O'Neal: He's pro-pasta and he wouldn't mind living around Newbury Street. Shaq met upwith the crew of NESN's 'After the Game' the other day to tape theshow's season finale, which will feature the new Celtic looking forproperty around Back Bay. O'Neal has been staying in Sudbury and atthe Ames, but apparently he's looking for something more permanent.The episode will also feature Shaq talking about his charity, theOdessa Chambliss Quality of Life Foundation, named for hisgrandmother. It airs Nov. 12. Yesterday, Shaq was at Buca di Beppoin Lexington to help the restaurant donate 2,500 pounds of pasta tothe Greater Boston Food Bank. . . . In other b-ball news, Celticsdance coach Marina Ortega and a couple of the team's cheerleaderswill lead a master class at the Boston Sports Club in Medford onNov. 1.

Hip-hop violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain, who backed Lady Gaga on'American Idol' last year, joined Pops conductor Keith Lockhart fora performance at the Edison School in Brighton yesterday. The BSOand the Edison have a partnership as part of the symphony's AcademySchool Initiative. . . . City Councilor Mike Ross was at the KnightChildren's Center in Jamaica Plain yesterday to paint pumpkins withkids on behalf of the Home for Little Wanderers. . . .
