- The Rhode Island chapter of the NEPGA won Monday's Tri-ChapterChampionship at Agawam Hunt in East Providence. David Baliuk ofGloucester and Dave Weiss of Metacomet combined for a 6-under 64 tohelp Rhode Island finish at 9-under 271. The Southeastern Mass.Chapter finished second, thanks to some great play by Jimmy Dee ofMarshfield and his assistant, Sam Bennett, who combined for a 65.Tom Cavicchi of Wollaston and Mickey Folan of Ponkapoag shot 68.Senior Rockland Open- Paul Bersani shot a 6-over 60 to win yesterday's Senior RocklandOpen at Rockland Golf Course. Shefinished as first alternate in a qualifying round for the US JuniorGirls' Amateur, then shot 75 to win the 12-13 division of the MaxfliPGA Junior Championship at Ponkapoag. Her roll continued when shefinished runner-up in the Concord CC Women's Club Championship, thenat the WGAM Junior Girls when she finished sixth in the 18-underdivision (she opted not to play in the 12-13 division). No wondershe was picked by the WGAM to represent Team Massachusetts in theTri-State matches.- Calling all Plymouth County junior golfers. Another track that will open in mid-August -- nodate has been determined -- is Cyprian Hills in Boylston.
